In the space of three sentences: How did you come to do what you do (for a living)?
I met a wonderful woman who worked as an intercultural trainer at one of the international conferences which I have attended. While talking about our backgrounds and experiences she told me I would make a great intercultural trainer as well. Being uncertain but still curious, I did some research about her profession and was really impressed. Personally, I have much experience being an expat and therefore understand the challenges being exposed.
At the very beginning of my career I was training the expats’ partners about how to master these situations. Since then I quickly decided to focus on Intercultural Communications as a profession. I became a trainer and was hired by international companies from different countries like USA, Canada, France, Germany, and UK. For the past 17 years I am working as an Intercultural trainer and Consultant and I am loving it.
How might intercultures’ customers find you unique?
Being able to offer a wide range of international experience as having worked in 10 different countries over a period of 18 years and having had the privilege of working with people of 58 different nationalities is quite impressive to our customers. This is why my clients highly appreciated my extended international experience and knowledge and consider me as an expert in my job.
What do you like about working with intercultures?
intercultures is an amazing global organization based in Berlin. My colleagues are very international and it is amazing to work with all of them. I think it fits so well with the nature of our work. We are truly an intercultural team.
In a global context – why do you think is your work – and our work together important?
Even now our work is extremely important and its importance will only increase. The awareness we bring to people around the world is invaluable. Our work is able to affect people globally by revealing cultural similarities but also cultural diversities. With this I believe we can make a difference in this world. We promote understanding, beauty of diversity and peace. In today’s world we need these values more then anything else. I believe in our work and I am proud to be part of it.
